SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING (SLS®)

What Is Selective Laser Sintering?

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a rapid prototyping process which produces a physical, three-dimensional object from a 3D CAD file.  An SLS machine uses a computer controlled laser to sinter (melt) a thermoplastic powder, layer by layer, to create a three dimensional part.

Why Use Selective Laser Sintering?

SLS is very similar to the SLA (stereolithography) prototyping process.  It's best to use SLS, when complex shapes that closely resemble injection molded parts are required.

A wide range of materials can be used to produce prototypes, including nylon, metals and elastomers.
